Though only with Motown Records for a short time, the Isley Brothers
stayed long enough to score this 1966 hit, written by the prolific team
of Holland-Dozier-Holland (plus Sylvia Moy). Rod Stewart’s 1975
remake only made it to #83 on the US charts, so Rod the Mod decided
to try, try again in 1989-- this time, dueting with the song’s originator,
“Brother” Ron Isley-- a collaboration that stayed atop the US Adult
Contemporary Charts for five weeks.
This July 21, 2017 performance took place at the Bethel Woods Center
for the Arts, which is (as you well know), located at the very site of the
1969 Woodstock music festival-- formerly Max Yasgur’s dairy farm.
