This Oct. 13, 1957 performance took place on a TV special called “The Edsel Show”

(that the show bears the  name of that ill-fated auto is NO reflection on the

performers, of course-- this is strictly a Rolls-Royce ride).

Two heavyweights (to say the LEAST) take center stage for this joyous

1957 performance.   The almost 42-year-old Sinatra was in his prime,

smack in the middle of his legendary collaboration with arranger

Nelson Riddle.  The 57-year-old Satch, whose most timeless contributions

to the music had been made three decades earlier (The Hot Five and Hot

Seven Sessions, 1925-28), was nonetheless still a revered figure to

jazzmen, and a hugely popular entertainer to the general public.
